I think you will all find that I am Sig's designated cake carrier having previous experience last summer. I would even go as far in saying that I would empty the entire contents of my bag at HPC to ensure I have enough room. The only drawback is having to share it out, last year I was fortunate that everyone forgot it was in my bag so, unsure of the best before date and taking no chances, I scoffed the lot on the train home.

I have almost finished fettling the Pedersen, test ride this evening. I think knee breeches and argyll socks are required.

It has attachments for a BoB Yak. You can fit a lot of cake on a Bob Yak.

Just saying, like.

I humbly suggest the above amendment for your consideration.

Which is why you will not be carrying it again this time

I considered carrying a Yak (I often use it with the Kaffenback for shopping), but that would just be silly, and I certainly don't intend to carry that much cake and spare tyres.

I may secrete a Thermos with some "secret ingredient" in it about my pannier, for use by TECs and anyone else stuck at the back.

As I'm at the back I'm considering riding the heavy bike. It has the following things to recommend it:

  • mudguards
  • rack
  • suspension fork (cheap)
  • Marathon+ tyres (38s)
But I would definitely miss my dyno-hub + Cyo combination.

Decisions, decisions...

Mudguards and a cheap suspension fork, Simon will love that!

Typical - I'm at the front this time.

Don't worry Adam, I can flit up and down the peloton and will have choccy stuff with me

I'm unable to TEC owing to ridiculous false nails left over from bridesmaid duties over the weekend meaning at best I can hold a torch and proffer advice (well that's my excuse story and I'm sticking to it  ). And the blinking things won't come off

B-b-b-but you're eminently qualified for TEC duties! I've seen pictures of you using your Louboutin-clad feet to finish putting a tyre on a rim. Though I'm not sure you'd want to cycle all the way to Brighton in high-heeled shoes.

This is currently No:1 in the "Me no TEC" charts for 2010.

It is unlikely to be outdone.

(Muses on nighttime photo of glistening torch, rubber and an alluring set of fingernails - perhaps a finger lightly presenting molten chocolate...)

Err "Fancy another pale ale Andrij?"
Ride the light bike - we haven't got all day you know.

Do you really want to climb Ditchling on that.....? My Cadenza isn't that heavy, but I'd still rather use the Jetstream (a kilo lighter plus wider gearing). Let alone the Viner (waaaaah!).
