A low gear is a truly wonderful thing, and a wonder to behold, and anything approaching 25 inches will get you up. Remember that it was originally built and designed as a route for heavily laden horses so consists of a series of steep bits then slightly easier bits so is not at all a continuous steep slog of Tremendous Cyclists' Legends, and anyway when you see the triangle warning of horses you have only a short bit to go then it eases remarkably rapidly. In my opinion it is vastly overblown, to hear some people talk it is as high as Everest, but with your bike and a bit of grit you will be fine, anyway you are with the FNRttC which gives everyone wings under their wheels.
Wot he said, apart from the 'vastly overblown' bit. It looked like an alp the first time I saw it looming in the distance, and that first ascent definitely was not a piece of cake (though I made the mistake of stopping for a drink), and had to walk for a bit as it was a false flat and just couldn't kick off again, even with a 22" bottom gear. Didn't make that same mistake again, next time I got up in one go. Even though I've been up there quite a few times now, I could never take the Beacon for granted.
That said, keep the pace steady, change down as and when (and if you can leave yourself a bailout gear or two) and you should be fine.
