My rear gear cable went half way through today's ride so I did 40 miles on a two speed. I rather liked it. Fortunately our ride was 40 miles of stupid Surrey hills followed by 40 miles of rolling lanes. So I only had the rolling lanes to deal with. I don't think I'd have liked the choice of "somewhat high" or "really rather high" if there had been proper hills.

I'm rather glad it happened today and not en route to Whitstable. I may have been on the receiving end of some Hard Stares for poor bike maintainance.
