Hooray! Great to have you on board, MacB!

I don't think DZ will check his emails til the weekend. If you're (still?) CTC there's no rush, if not he'll need the £12 cheque in his hands before 5 May.
South-Easterners will be heading back in dribs and drabs I think. I will be hanging around in a leisurely fashion all weekend, and hopefully having at least a beer or two after the ride, and possibly some more drinks later - you will of course be more than welcome to join in any further revelry, and if I feel up to it I might provide some lunch chez Claud. If you let me know your deadline for getting back I'll do my best to make sure you're on the necessary train!

   This is me we're talking about, I don't do deadlines, the furthest I'll go is preferably Saturday but if I end up in a B&B then it could be Sunday...though I think the days are gone where it could have been Monday or Tuesday and not necessarily with bike still in tow

Bung some spare gear in one of those little drawstring backpack/PE bags and a big pre-paid mail bag. Change and freshen up on the Sat morning, bung the sweaty gear and stuff in mail bag, drop at post office and we're good to go.

Do you mean arriving 23:39? If so you will not be alone

That's what the website shows but when I booked on the phone they insisted it was 2323...it'll be one or the other, or something else entirely

No deadlines, no worries. All I need to promise in that case is that we won't let you fall off the end of the pier...

That didn't take up all your time though, did it?

There was a bit of multi-tasking going on, but an hour or so did rather disappear somewhere along the line. Alas not from the Zoided one - just when I thought there might be something interesting festering beneath the anti-social veneer, he buggered off to bed!

I've just booked a ticket on the 2141 from Reading to Cardiff, with bike space, arriving Cardiff Central at 2323...maybe cutting it a bit fine but it was only £15 and couldn't resist.

TC - let me know if this is ok - I've not booked a return yet as wasn't sure what would be happening the next day, I'm trusting to you to make sure I find my way back somehow!!!!

Dell - my details remain the same but if you need any dosh etc in advance can you let me know, otherwise I'll settle up with you on the night

Look forward to meeting you properly, MacB. Are you going to build up a bike specially for the occasion, or just swap out the drivetrain and hubs...?

Isn't this a nice picture?
I just saw it on the other thread and thought of it when the idea of swimming came up

Sat 21st May 08:45 11.89m HW. Not too far to fall then

Looks like we can let MacB off the reins...

I'm pleased it's high - the ride into Mumbles is nicest at high water. Mind you, any higher than that and we'd be dodging the waves as we come in...

I believe there's a train from Brighton at 17.33, one change at Havant, gets to Portsmouth at 19.10. Then I was planning to get the same train as Stu (19.23) - but I'm not brilliant at finding my way round the intricacies of train timetables! Might be a good idea to double check.

Is Portsmouth Harbour station the same as Portsmouth and Southsea, or on the same line?

Portsmouth Harbour's the end of the line, P&S one stop up, then Fratton. For changing trains, P&S will be probably be best for you, but Fratton's no bother (lifts to and from the bridge across the platforms). Just checked National Rail website, it's got the connecting train from Brighton as the 1800, changing at Fratton.
