Yes. It's 'Catseye' singular, he didn't bobble down Reigate Hill nutting each one in turn... would have been skilful, I'll admit.

You're a better man than I am Martin Brice. Well I make it one click to here: http://fnrttc.blogspot.com/ Having done so I am presented with an array of 15 very attractive hyperlinked pictures with 19 hyperlink text options on the right.
The pictures by their nature capture my attention, and so because I wanted to enter the Bognor ride, I clicked on the picture of Bognor.
This then opens a page with an ochre coloured bar across the bottom which states "email fnrttc@yahoo.co.uk for details". So I did, and that's when the trouble started...
you really are taking the mickey. The legend at the bottom of the page says 'Martlets FNRttC 2nd September 2011 - e-mail fnrttc@yahoo for details'. The opening spiel bigs up registration, and the word 'registration' is four inches to the right of that.

I don't mind people not getting it, and I'm not saying the blog is perfect, but acting smart (here's a clue - don't start e-mails with 'er...') and querulous at the same time is telling me that actually you're the last person I need on the ride.

can I direct you to the blogthingy?
http://fnrttc.blogspot.com/
that takes you through registration, 'the basics' and some frequently asked questions, although if you come up with an infrequently asked question I'll do my best to answer it.
If you need to join the CTC via the Fridays then time is of the essence.

Er… but the registration thingy says to email you.
I’m actually a British Cycling member (gold license) no. 922944.

I need
- your mobile number
- confirmation that you've read and understood 'the basics'
- your CTC number if you're a member. If you're not then I'm afraid it's a question of joining the CTC via the Fridays - the five non-CTC spots have long since gone

I can’t ride with you because I’m a BC member? Madness.
Fortunately London, the seaside and the roads in between are there regardless of crazy made up rules.

Yes, I saw the 2nd of September reference on the Bognor ride page and yes, it did seem contradictory. I just thought you had made a mistake when re-using a template or something like that. After all, none of us are perfect.

while I would contend that night rides are inherently safe, probably safer than day rides
On a recent 100k extension of a 200k calendar Audax, I rode at night from Ashford to Paddock Wood, a distance of 45k, and saw one car. That is from 2.30am to 5am (ish). Night riding is much safer because you can see a car's headlights as it approaches, and they can see you - lit up like a Christmas tree on acid.
Southend riders on the move - wowza!

that's my thought, although I would accept that the greatest risk of minor injury is cyclist to cyclist, and that the risk of that may be increased by drowsiness.

Globalti rightly brought our attention to a dreadful junction with the A676. A daytime group ride might spend a good deal of time getting across the road, and, with no visibility, cyclists would have to be pretty quicksmart about it. I'll look at it again tomorrow night, but I think that it might be safer at night - less traffic, and more notice of approaching cars.

Then that's your call - as has been every response that you have made today. It's disappointing, because the whole affair just rocks along with a 'vibe' - a pre-event banter borne of a bit of familiarity (this bit, if you like), then there is the ride, which is well managed, responsibly 'executed' and begets the post-ride enjoyment of daylight! Then there are the observations, the photos, the jolly japes - dammit! the post ride reportage which might illuminate, amuse and encourage others to venture into the 'unknown...' And, if necessary, discreet other business which informs and educates for future rides, or deals with apparent 'problems' - which plays no part of the visible bits of the Friday Night Ride to the Coast.
It's about joining in, not standing apart - which is how you are positioning yourself.

Read, digest and understand all the information that has been patiently given to you. And when you do one of these rides, enjoy it for what it is... before, during and after. Help build the story and not try and knock it down, as it makes me feel bad.

Thanks.

I'm afraid I called it.

Entirely justified IMHO! You do too many good things to have to listen to grumpy people!

Just a quick thought Dell re the blog issue- have you thought of using Wix for a flash website? a bit more zingy visually and you don't need a domain to set it up.

I just love you young people! Is Wix some form of household cleaner?

LOL, and, if I might be so bold, ROFLMAO!
