Well I enjoyed that. Got into Felpham at 06.45, cup of tea and tucked up in bed for a few hour's kip by 07.30. Lovely.

if he's not home yet i wouldn't worry too much. he's a mousketeer, who knows where the road is gonna take him? but he'll be back, eventually.
seriously, they said they will stop for lunch on the way back. maybe their lunch turned into slightly 'extended'?

Thank you Simon for a wonderful ride, even if my night was more eventful than planned. More later after a shower and some sleep, suffice to say I have a bruise on my back and clocked my longest ride at 237.75km

Another excellent FNRttC. The Bognor one is my Favourite.
The ride home to Bromley was a very hot affair...
158 miles for the night/day.

A classic ride.

Lots of new faces and, judging by the comments made, quite a few of them will be back for more - which is always good.

I took a bit of a back seat for much of the ride - on account of not wanting to further foul an already vulnerable ankle.

But in no way did that mar my enjoyment of the ride.

Sunrise was to die for, as was the scenery - probably at its best to the south of Horsham.

I confess to getting a real feelgood buzz, seeing the look on the face of a ride newcomer, when they've done as I've suggested and (for instance) looked to their right (at a stonking vista) just as we've crested the next hill....

Thanks to all who came and made the ride what it was.

Oh, BTW, to those who thought it was cold when we came out of The Cabin. It wasn't .
When you come out of the half way stop and the contents of your bidon have frozen solid, that is cold

I felt a little chilly but it passed. Compared to Southend last month, this was positively tropical!

As said a classic ride. I didn't really feel up for this when I left home but an hour in and it was all good. Great to see Becs and Miranda, hope no one got too "ill". The ride back was fun but largely uneventful. 155 miles for me and I am tired but now in garden with beer. Happy days! :becool:

I think, Bognor is now my favourite ride, just simply gorgeous there and back, well done and a big thank you!

I am, quite literally, ruined! But very happy with my 150.30 miles, just could not get any more out of me.

Thanks again & hope the party bunch are still having fun, albeit hopefully wearing sunscreen too!

Think I may have the longest "there & back"... 315 km since I left home at 3.30 pm yesterday to met up with the Portsmouth massive. Home at 1.45 pm today, wasted, couldn't even face an extra 15 minutes that would have been to round it up to 200 miles.

Again Great Route and Great Company.
Although I had to bail after the Cabin, 2 too many Punctures, got the train back to the smoke.... Tyra flat when arrived at Victoria, one well close inspection very small tear in sidewall so walk round to Evans and a new one with tube.
Well Bognor will stay on the To Do List for the next time.

Roll on Whitstable.

Cheers all
Nigel.

Dear all,
thanks for a great ride, my second FNrttc and first since Brighton in february last year, since when I have been largely off the bike. It was good to know I could still do the miles, as that was double anything I have done since then, but the fitness is coming back and I felt comfortable enough to enjoy the senery. The tales of the beauty around Arundel at dawn where not exagerated and I found the rides around the lanes in the darkness exilerating to say the least. I thought it was cold by the way, so I am obviously a bit of a whimp, even though I am meant to be Scottish! Note to self, bring an extra layer next time!

Thanks to Simon and assistants for their organisation, which was faultless. Unfortunately I had to take a flyer for the last 5 miles and rush to get a train at 08.56, so was unable to catch up at breakfast. Next time will know to book a bit later!

Am looking forward to Brighton in May and to renewing hostilities with the Beacon.

Best wishes to all and see you in May

Grahame

copied from YACF:

Whilst riding to the start I was crossing Staines Bridge when I felt an impact about a 1/3rd of the way down my spine. A vehicle then went past from which I could hear laughter. The lights at the end of the bridge were red but the vehicle went straight through them to avoid me catching up.

I reported the incident via 999 before leaving the bridge, including vehicle description and numberplate. Surrey police are on the ball, it is being investigated by the local CID as an assault , they have pulled the CCTV of the bridge (apparently I can be seen) and matched my numberplate to a local vehicle of the right type. The DC now needs to view the CCTV to assess if it shows the object thrown, can identify the vehicle and it occupants or can show the jump of the red light.

Other than that I met up with RedJedi in Brentford by chance and rode the rest of the way in with him, thank you company was what I needed at that time. Simon saw me in my YACF KotM and promptly named me as a TEC. This meant I had very little standing around, except in the queue at Feygate.

We lost one rider to a broken rear spoke and the wheel contained to few others to get it to clear the frame, had a few puncture (two to a TEC who ducked out at Feygate) and made good time to Bognor, particularly in the second half of the ride. Ate breakfast and I took out the Blackberry and Apple Crumble cake I had been carrying (it was reduced in Waitrose and after the recent crumble thread was too good to miss). I then left to ride home, stopping for ice cream, fanta and sunscreen in Petworth and for a short lay down in a bus shelter south of Guildford.

I probably should have done the extra 2.25km for the 150 miles but I was dog tired and my back is sore, both from the impact and that the Van Nic has lower handlebars than either of my other steeds.

Thanks to Simon for organizing, Mark and Adam for their company at the back and a

to Lisa who at Horsham was tempted to get the train to Ford with Rebecca but was persuaded that once things warmed up her knee would be fine and then was rarely seen at the back again.
