I'm up for this again and will send email as soon as I get home tonight. It's my anniversary on the 29th too and I can't think of any better way of celebrating it

I usually get the train from Lewes just before 10pm and it's empty - I wouldn't have thought that would change during the Olympics, are there any events starting that late? At Lewes station there are often no staff around at that time of night either.
9pm, Horseguards Parade, Beach volleyball is about as late as it gets.

You mean there are going to be days when we get 10, 20, 25 flat miles?
yes. The stretch from Donny to York is flat. Old route Southend flat. Actually, flatter. Really flat. And, although this sounds a bit daft, some of our time in the Highlands is flat - Newtonmore to Aviemore, for example.

There is room for a Brommie. Ian MacS will be bringing his, so that he can get a bit of cycling if the other drivers are happy to do without him for a bit.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Yes, pretty unthinkable to me too - especially as the furthest I've ever ridden my Brompton is about five and a half miles! I'm not sure I'd make it to Southend without a lot of practice first ^_^
Whisper it - the furthest I've done on mine is about five and a half miles. I'm working on the basis that Southend is just a week's worth of commuting in one go.

Incidentally, who's bringing the 15mm spanner for the Brompton fleet's rear wheels?

I never leave home on rhubarb without a pedros trixie and/or an adjustable spanner.

Whereas I rely on Marathon pluses and public transport. They haven't let me down yet.

[edit]
Though I have been riding around for the last six months or so with a socket to tighten up cranks. It's been redundant at least since last autumn, when the thing was serviced.

... and I've normally got a medium sized adjustable suitable for getting a wheel off, and often times a 15mm Stubby spanner for this specific purpose alone, so I don't think you'll find any shortage of spanners should the fairy descend upon your Brompton. ^_^

Damn, I was really looking forward to this as a first timer. Can't believe I didn't sign up earlier. Any chance of joining this one?

Any other good ones coming up that I can join?

Just had a bit of a result, I thought I didn't have a prayer of getting a pass for this, but mrs ceepeebee thought I was doing it anyway. I think I might even ride back! I shall send you a mail simon.

Right, best get the new wheels ordered. (yes yes, 36 spoke jobs, for fatties)
