Just wondering if it would be a hard job to swap out a Shimano Ultegra front mech and upgrade to a Dura Ace one as i have never really done anything like that before.

Do they come in top pull and bottom pull varieties - last time I a changed a front derailler there was a confusing variety of models that were ostensibly the same thing in the same groupset
Once you have the right one first get the height right and then the angle -adjust the inner and outer travel so that it does not over shift - from there it is as darkmarster says be prepared for a bit (well quite a lot) of trial and error to get the cable dead right - once it shifts perfectly try not to touch it again unless absolutely necessary
