Ok, front derailluers been playing up so i decide to try and sort it last night.

I have a sora FD on an unbranded triple ring (2005 spesh allez). I read the relevant chapter of zinn, parktools and had a look on you tube.

But despite hours of faffing with the limit screws and the tension i still cant get it to shift to the big (outside ring).

Where am i going wrong? I am off into battle again tonight.

thanks andy

make sure the cage is straight.
Set the inner stop about right.
clamp cable.
then, see if it will shift ok.
if it don't then unclamp cable, and manually shift it across.
adjust outer stop till it looks about right.
clamp cable and test.

Don't mess with the inner stop.
and every time you adjust the outer stop, you will need to release and tighten the cable.

You may find you have to run the mech at a slight angle, to get it to push enough of the chain across.

Could be the dreaded winter sieze up andy...mine does it every winter. I think salt and dirt gets into the pivot.
Look at the mech from the rear wheel..you'll see a large dome headed allen bolt facing the rear. Its the point where it all pivots. Mines very prone to seizing.

Undo that bolt a little, get some WD40 or similar into the pivot, grab the mech and manipulate it some, mine always comes free quite quick. Re tighten the bolt, jobs a goodun.
