Front mudguard for MTB, no fork bridge

I've just replaced the siezed forks on my commuter MTB with some Exotic rigid forks which don't have a bridge, so nowhere to attach my front mudguard. I could bodge something up with cable ties, jubilee clips etc but it will take time (that I don't have atm) to make something rigid enough to hold my big flappy front mudguard.

I don't really fancy the ones that plug into the bottom of the head tube, I want something that sits closer to the tyre. I've seen various types that cable tie to the forks e.g. mudhugger but all the pictures seem to show some additional fixings to the bridge. So I'm after something that mounts to the forks and is rigid enough not to need attaching to the bridge as well.

Any ideas?
Thanks

(though I'm sure you could do the same with a bit of broom handle or plastic pipe)

If the fork blades are tapered then it's possibly unwise to attach anything that might slide down and jam the wheel. If they're carbon it's probably unwise to attach anything too tightly.
