My current next bike list includes these two:

Picking up from the post from @BlueDog in the Genesis Datum thread can I please ask if anyone else on here has had Fulcrum hub issues re wet weather riding?

PS: not questioning the veracity of Bluedog's post.

The Rose comes with DT Swiss R24 (plus I can easily and very cheaply respec' the Rose with R23/R32 also from DT Swiss).

Or I can go up to the next model up the range from Ridley that has DT Swiss R24 as standard (a fair chunk more money but also with a few other v.minor 'upgrades':

I know little about wheels! Are the DT Swiss wheels ok and is it worth paying extra for them?

I'm not bothered about weight issues but don't want to buy a new bike and have any hub problems - at least not until they have a lot of miles in them!

I have the Dt swiss r23 on my disc bike and have had dt swiss on a previous bike and have found them very good, ie lasted well and stayed true.

For the extra 60euros to upgrade the rose I'd definitely do it, it's the sort of upgrade that would cost you £300 plus later.

Haven't tried the fulcrums so can't comment there I'm afraid.

I have fulcrum racing 5's and for what it's worth I rate them. Had no problem with the hubs, but not sure if they are the same hubs as the sports. You could probably find out. I think the sports are based on the Racing 7's

From a bit of googling the hub issues seem specific to the fulcrum sports; all the rest seem a different design.

I tried the Ridley X Trail earlier this week with the Fulcrum Racing Sport DB wheels - pretty much an entry level disc wheelset. Dealer has not experienced problems with them on either Ridley or Genesis equipped bikes. Warranted for first year anyway so minimal risk if indeed there is an issue.

I liked the bike too!
