Looking for advice - road bike wheel
Fulcrum racing 7 lg rear wheel - hub flange has cracked unfortunately and wheel is not safe to ride.
Front wheel in great shape with loads of miles left.
Fulcrum S4 rear wheel for sale on e bay - looks in decent shape but needs new bearings.
Is it possible to take bearings from the 7 and put them in the S4 ? What's required in the way of tools and expertise?

It’s not unusual to get flange problems with some Fulcrum wheels. Yes it is possible to swap bearings from the 7 to the 4. You just need a suitable diameter ( home made out of a piece of plumbing pipe if needs be ) drift, a mallet, and a ( home made if needs be, out of a piece of hard wood ) press.

Assuming they are the 6001 type 'cartridge' bearings, its quite feasible but...its relatively easy to damage the races getting old ones out and ending up with a notchy bearing. Fitting them is easy if care is taken.

You really don't know how much life there is left in the bearings in your 7, do you? And as @gbb says, in getting them out you'll likely damage the races a bit.
If you fancy buying a wheel and fitting bearings, buy new bearings, and fit them (will need press to do properly/with assurance).

Thanks for the replies. I'll have a go at removing the r7 bearings as it will be going in the bin anyway.
Looks as though new bearings are quite cheap also.👍

Having the old bearings is handy, you can place them over the new ones as you drive them in...it protects the new ones from impact damage
