PS I think those things in the distance are the tallest buildings in Manchester city centre, and we are looking from somewhere approximately SE of there, on the western fringes of the Peak District. Put me out of my misery by finding the road for me!
(I will spend another hour looking for it tomorrow if someone else hasn't spotted it by then.)
