I moved house a few weeks ago. One of the important criteria when I was looking for a house was a garden big enough that I could grow fruit and veg.
This is the back garden in February shortly after I got the keys to the house.
This is it this week. The trees at the back are coming out. We've made a start by taking the lower branches off which pleases my neighbours as they're getting more light. I've planted my asparagus and rhubarb and set up three beds for veg this year. I've stuck to pots and baskets for some things as I don't know what's going where yet.
The red-leaved tree on the left is some sort of Acer. The tree on the right is a flowering cherry which was lovely in bloom.
Out of shot on the left there are a couple of fruit trees - an apple and a pear. There's also something planted alongside the apple, probably a currant. I'll find out soon.
I've been gifted a greenhouse frame and I plan to put that where the rhododendron is now. I'm just waiting until it stops flowering before I start taking that out.
I've also garden space at the front of the house. It's paved & graveled as the previous occupants used to park a caravan there (which must've blocked all their light). I'll be turning that back into garden eventually but for now I've herbs and fruit bushes in pots.
