Does anyone make their own Comfrey "tea" to use as plant food?

On Gardeners' World yesterday evening Frances Tophill used a section of drain pipe, possibly two feet high. Then she weighted down the scrunched up leaves, rain falls into the pipe and "tea" filters out the end.

This is supposedly a less smelly version than putting it in a bucket.

This is supposedly a less smelly version than putting it in a bucket.

I've done it for years. It's not as bad as the bucket method, but it still stinks when you open the tap to let it out.
The semi-rotted residue is also disgusting in texture and smell.
I don't rely on rain, but pour water in.

I use comfrey leaves when I put my rhubarb 'to bed' each year. Cut the rhubarb back, cover the crown with comfrey leaves and then with compost. I also see little harm in shoving comfrey leaves in the compost bins.

Good clearing up session. Tomatoes and chillis out of their pots and into the garden bin, sunflowers demolished.

I seem to have a large number of these little buggers - Southern Stink Bug apparently. They weren't around at the peak of summer.

No idea if they are bad. Not really seen them before.

Insanely good chilli harvest

Discovered some big radishes that I'd forgotten about. They may be a bit woody tho.

More autumn chores done. Pots and containers tidied away, paths cleared of weeds and swept, incursion of brambles at the end of the garden dealt with, loads of little jobs. I'm knackered but it doesn't look enormously different.

I have been out getting lots more tomatoes from my tomato plants. They all went a bit tonto this year. I think my courgettes are finally done. My freezer is rammed with shredded courgettes for stews and soups over winter. My butternut squash plants, 2 of, are still growing away, as are my peppers.
I have late carrots to pick this week and some beetroot. I am running out of jars for chutney. I might have to actually buy some! The horrors.
