Garmin 820 recent firmware update issues..

I recently plugged my Garmin 820 into the computer for the first time in a long while and did all the updates it suggested.

One of them was a map update that took over an hour.

True to form for Garmin it's made the whole thing worse. It takes ages to boot up. Failed to save one of my rides (of course it was a ride that I was cracking along on) and the mapping update means that there are no maps on the device, at least for my area.

Is anyone else having issues?

I'm going to get DCRainmakers guide out and put the maps I want on it in the meanwhile.

I just did mine and it did take a long time. Only one ride since and it seemed to be working OK.

It took much more than an hour for the map update to complete on my Edge 1000. I just started the update and walked away. Haven't noticed any problem, though, since doing the update and startup time seems about the same as before the update. I added a 32GB microSD card to my Edge 1000 prior to the update. Don't know how that affects the startup time. Don't suspect it should have any effect, but that's just a guess.
