Garmin Edge 305 files

A quick question - with a (hopefully) simple answer.

How do I getmy 305 to register different rides seperately rather than as laps?

If I commute into work and back it insists on uploading as one file with 2 laps rather than two seperate rides/files. If I do several days between downloads then the same thing happens - it records the rides as a series of laps rather than seperate rides/days.

How do I prevent this?

Before the 2nd trip, hold down the lap button for 5 seconds. That resets the timer back to 0:00.00.
