Garmin Edge 800 question

Hi knowledgeable ones.

I have a Garmin Edge 800 on loan from a friend who wants me to teach him how to use it. I've got through a lot of what he wants to know but one thing has me stumped.
If I take it for a ride it will show the route I have just ridden. But I cannot find how to save that on the unit. I've looked through the users' manual. What am I missing?

And really - I am asking for a friend - really I am

Its a strange way to save a ride on the device. Its the same for the Edge 500 too.

Thanks both. I tried that before I asked in here. Just seemed to loose the track data totally. Is it stored somewhere I haven't found?

Have you looked in history?

Alternatively just turn it off when you get home then plug it and and download it using Garmin Express on a computer.

Think it stores all of the rides in a folder called activities either on the sd card (if fitted) or on the unit itself.

Have you got the free talkytoaster maps loaded on it?

Have you looked in history?

I seem to have deleted all of that somehow

As saaid above
when you start riding press the bottom right button to start recording
when you finish
press bottom right button then press bottom left button
then turn off device
the ride data should be stored in history , connect to a pc/laptop and the garmin should show up as a device , be aware if your using a memory card wait for the memory card to show up a a separate device.

I've just found it.

Courses/create new course. Up comes list of activities. Select the required ride and hey presto the route appears.
