Garmin Forerunner 305 not uploading

My Forerunner 305 seems to have decided it doesn't want to sync with Garmin Express anymore. It says it has synced and shows the time last updated but the activities don't show up in the list.

It has been flaky for a while so I've already reloaded Garmin Express. Could it be because I have the free version?

All the activities show up fine on the Garmin device itself, I've also deleted old activities just in case that was a factor.

Any ideas?

Is it connecting in the cradle? Mine is also a bit flaky and it sometimes needs a thunk on the desk to get it to connect. It's just a single unit inside connected to the rear terminals by pressure from the case.
