Same principal applies though, no? Would you be happy if something failed after just over two years and the manufacturer refused to do anything other than tell you to buy a replacement?

Been the reality for most stuff for decades, unless you go third party repairers.

There are some companies that do the right thing though and they should be publicly praised. Here are a couple of good experiences that I had...
Endura sent me a new cycling jacket when the zip failed on my old one. The jacket was out of the warranty period but the nice Scottish woman on the phone told me that they'd been supplied with a batch of unreliable zips so were ignoring the warranty limit and replacing any faulty goods free of charge.
In the bad old days of computer monitors made with CRT technology rather than LCDs, I had an expensive 17" monitor which failed several months out of warranty. Another nice woman on the customer service line told me that my records must be wrong (they definitely were not)... the dead device still had one month of warranty left, so she would 'correct the error' - thanks, Iiyama!

Nice - that of course is absolutely the way it should be and I agree such companies should rightly be identified so that the thoughtful among us can make more informed decisions
Any Wahoo users, what’s their repair service like?

So far I’ve had 3 failed Wahoo HRM’s and a failed Elemnt Bolt, in each case replaced FOC by Wahoo and all out of warranty. Wahoo can’t seem to do enough for their customers i have to say. As for repair service, haven’t needed it so far although I’m sure the Bolt i got back was in fact a repaired unit in a new case, just my guess.

That's not good - i.e. fails. My original Garmin HRM unit still going strong from the Edge 705 days, my old 200 is used for commuting and I've had my Explore quite a while now.

Correct although it‘s not so straight forwards, also not so clear which replacement battery you need as there’s many that claim to be the right one….

The power button on my Garmin Oregon GPS has broken. Now, I got that particular GPS from Garmin as an out of warranty "repair" (actually replaced with an as-new unit) some years ago for a bargain price when I damaged the screen of the original.
How times change. I'll contact Garmin and see what they say. Probably "here's 50p off a new one"

The power button on my since gifted to my daughter Garmin 1000, failed/disintegrated some time ago.
I know a local chap who runs Raceware, so he printed me up a button (plus a spare), which I glued on, had to sand it down a bit, but now you wouldn't know it was there under the silicone sleeve, and it feels more solid than the original.
I suspect the same will be available for your oregon for not many pounds.
