garmin virb connection issues

please help. bought a garmin virb basic action camera 6 months ago and all was good. now for some reason my computer won't recognize the device. the camera shows the usb icon but nothing else happens. i've been on countless forums hosted by garmin and nothing. can anyone help.

Try it in a different usb port? Different cable?
