Why the rude comment? I thought it was an interesting article and a fun starting point for a discussion. You may disagree but if so why bother commenting? There's the entire rest of the internet to read, I'm sure you can find something you do care about.
My view is that cyclists worry too much about what other road users or the tabloids think of them. As long as you ride along following the rules and laws of the road and try to avoid obstructing other road users, why worry themselves what they think of you.
Some road users have the mentality of Yorkshire Terriers. As soon as they see a bike they bark their little heads Off, even if the bike is parked against a wall. We, as cyclist will not change that.
As for the tabloids. They print what they want and people believe it without doing any of their own research.
My mission as a cyclists is to go out there and keep fit, visit new places, meet new people and enjoy myself.

Nothing about cyclists considered seditious and associated with progressive thinking and emancipation? The English seem to still think there's something subversive about cycling.
"When a cyclist on any road sees, or has reason to believe that he might see if he chose to look, any horse, cart, carriage, gig or other vehicle, or any pedestrian approaching, he (or she) to instantly dismount, run the machine into the nearest ditch, and kneel in a humble and supplicating attitude till said horse, cart &c., has got at least a mile away."
