Why are radiators typically mounted on outside walls? There must surely be a reason, although at face value it seems odd.

In our house (which apparently is good at retaining heat) there are 3/8 radiators on external walls.

In our bungalow I run a dehumidifier over the winter months. Ever since doing so, I have noticed my central heating can be run at a lower temperature……..17/18 centigrade as opposed to 20/21. There is also an additional benefit of reduced window condensation which has always irritated me.
The dehumidifier is also a very effective and cost effective way of drying clothes.

How big a humidifier is it as it's something we keep looking at

Of course he could have, he had a van full of tools
I fixed it myself by closing the hole with a bit of plasterboard I had.
I cut it to size, then made it airtight by applying a few coats of "no more cracks" around it.

My wife and four daughters regularly tell me that ;)

I wonder actually how much the likes of Youtube, for smaller DIY jobs has impacted business for various trades? Obviously your complex stuff that needs proper training and experience from a skilled tradesperson is not affected, but the basic stuff that is a simple home fix? The last 3 or four bits in my house have all been solved by a bit of Youtube searching. Without that they would have been jobs, pre social media, that I would likely have called someone out for.

Internal walls are warmer than external, so there's a circular air current as the air next to the internal wall rises, flows across the ceiling, falls down the cold wall, and back across the floor to the hot wall, creating a cold draught across your legs. If you put the radiator on the internal wall it aggravates this cold draught, but on the external wall it goes some way towards counteracting it. It's like the difference between putting your hand next to a fan heater inlet instead of the outlet.

The Glue that binds us together.
Since fitting the wood burner our gas bill has gone down, probably take a couple of years to recoup the initial cost, the wood cost us nothing as we have been scavenging for for over a year. The living room has never been so warm. The goverment can stick there gas prices where the sun don't shine.^_^
