Can't advise about energy, haven't got any either.
In my case, I suspect old age

Have you asked your GP? I suspect (s)he is in a much better position to offer constructive advice than the forum. You probably don't have anything much to worry about but a basic blood test or two including thyroid function (which can present very insidiously) would set your mind at rest and if it needs treating, then hooray!

this..you need to have a blood test to make sure..
i have b12 injections every 10 weeks..i was very tired and short tempered. Im still short temperd, but have more energy so i can enjoy my temper more..lol

Mrs Dave would advise you to take it very easy til it is out of your system.
Post viral fatigue had her a total wreck for the best part of 18 months. This was about 7 years back. Be careful!

What about your overall well being? Are you under any stress, work or home, anything playing on your mind? If so then this will cause hell. I agree with others GP check up, change your eating habits, go to bed at a decent hour. I like the earlier post about slimming world, we do this in our house, and meals made from scratch taste a lot better than crap out of jars and tins, and you can eat just about anything you want. I also take vitamin D tablets.

Since i got the cycling bug, i feel very well, i was OK before, but that was not always the case, but now i can't get outside in the fresh air soon enough. Cycled 4 times this week total about 60 miles mainly off road, swam once 1 mile, walked 5 miles today, and golf tomorrow and the way i play golf will probably involve a very long walk. I find the more active i get, the better i feel. The only thing i am not looking forward to is the 1100 miles i have to do next week in the car!

A few years ago i felt the same as you, and i honestly believe you can convince yourself to be lazy, lethargic etc and the less you do, the less you want to. I am not in anyway saying that this is all in the mind, but it was with me, and then i decided that i had to change my lifestyle if i wanted to live and see my grandkids grow up. If you are feeling down, you are far more susceptible to bugs and infections, and its a hard cycle to break. I disagree with using various lotions and potions to ward off colds and sneezes, if you look after yourself properly, your immune system will take care of the rest.

I have a major milestone next month, on the 23rd July i will have completed my first year without a cigarette, and since that day i have not had any ailments at all.

Cheers...................Howard

Thank you for all your thoughts.

My GP isn't very sympathetic to middle aged lethargic ladies, so don't think I will get much joy there tbh.

Agree about slimming world, I've done it once or twice as a weight loss programme. Though it discourages nuts and seeds which I think are important.

Feeling a bit better this morning, cold seems to be getting better.
SO, once the cold has cleared up, going to address the eating habits.

Ask for a blood test, just to check iron and thyroid functions why not? Just to rule them out. I've now had several friends with thyroid problems.

Don't forget that all GP's aren't necessarily good GP's. WhenMrs Dave was ill we had a really good Dr in the practice who listened and supported her. Shop around.

Also this Dr advised her to go down the alternative therapies route. One of the things she had was acupuncture which helped. I have a friend who suffers from depression who is currently having acupuncture and she's on top of the world right now.

I would have actually agreed with you a good few years ago when exercise, effort and such like seemed to pay off well for me with things going downhill when injuries prevented exercise.
I did get better cycling again, by mid November I had cycled 8500 miles for 2014. Not cycling was killing me (an understatement)

But I have done about 200 miles in the 6 months since and can honestly say I have never felt better in the whole of my life.
Buy yourself an ebay digital hygrometer. As cheap as 99p ! You just never know. If your worst days are when indoor humidity is over 60%, then you likely have a bacterial infection susceptibility simply caused by your house being 'under the weather'.

I'm half way through doing all the jobs I intended years ago, such as painting the whole house exterior etc and hope to get back doing some 100+ mile day rides autumn onwards. I'm quite sure they will be even more fun now.

I have just been reading an article about adrenal fatigue - the symptoms they listed included always being tired & frequent colds. They also mentioned craving for caffeine/chocolate to boost energy, lack of sex drive. Perhaps it's something you could check. They talked of taking time for yourself - to de-stress - daily and for longer sessions on a monthly basis.

The article was in either the Telegraph magazine or Stella magazine which comes with the Telegraph.
