I am half German, have got 6 bikes

So, being half German, we should divide your total by two, leaving you with three bikes, still 25% above the national average?

There are five bikes in this household. Of my three, only one gets ridden regularly. The other two, owned by Mrs and Miss Slomo get ridden a dozen times a year between them. Bikes per household is not a very good indicator of cycling activity, as others have pointed out.

Hang on, I have 3 bikes and 3 spare groupsets and 4 spare sets of wheels, so in theory I must have about 5.25 bikes.....

No, just in the process of acquiring a couple of suitable frames... so then it will round up to 4 full bikes...plus spares....
