Hello all, thanks 'teef and thanks all for the nice messages.

I got home from a day's ride on Saturday to find that Henry was not well. Within an hour he got worse so we took him to A&E at our local hospital. He started to get rapidly worse in a very short amount of time. They had to put him on ventilation as he had trouble breathing. He was finally diagnosed as having a partially right lung collapse caused by pneumonia. He was immediately transfered to the Paediatrics Intensive Care Unit at St Thomas' hospital in London. As he was in the ambulance his right lung fully collapsed and his left started to do the same. They got him to the unit just in time. He was fed all sorts of drugs through a multitude of tubes through both nostrils and drips in both hands, with a breathing tube inserted down his throat.

To cut a long story short, it was touch and go on sunday, but he's a strong lad and by very last night he was showing good signs of improvement. They managed to partially inflate his lung, but both lungs are full of infection so they are had to try suck it all out. This morning his lung was back to near full inflation and the turn around with his health has been amazing.

This evening he was deemed well enough to be transfered back to our local hospital where he will be treated and stay under observation until friday. His mum is staying with him tonight whilst I am sorting stuff at home and will try get some much needed sleep.

It's been a very stressful time as you can guess, but he's getting better and that's all that matters.

Ian..

Wow children like to put their parents through the wringer ... get well soon Henry ... glad to hear you are perking up.

Very best wishes to your family Ian and hoping for Henry's full recovery. I remember what it's like to have a panic over a small child - we had to rush our son to hospital when he was four, with acute cellulitis. But he got over it. That was twenty years ago. Hopefully in twenty years' time you and Mrs. I, and Henry will be looking back on this episode and smiling...
