Folk can dwell on their ailments and let their pre-occupation with being unwell overwhelm the opportunities to enjoy life that present themselves or they can press on with life and make the most of it.

I've had some pretty scary health scares in the not to distant past and some awfully painful ailments recently but although they caused some misery, I never missed the opportunity to find pleasurable things to do or think about like pies for instance.

I've just sorted out my tablets for the week and I take 2030mg per day to keep me going - don't get old if you can help it

During my spell of hospitalisation last year I was on 4000mg of antibiotics per day plus 2200mg of pain killers and was in intense pain. I was in a ward with amputees and lung cancer surgery patients. It didn't stop me from organising and winning the ward farting competition.

I reckon I've got another forty years before i reach my mid-life crisis

At 58, I'm not doing too badly, one pill for hypertension, one for my guts, and painkillers as needed for my back. They don't bother me too much, it's the short to medium term memory deterioration that I find difficult to handle; although on the plus side, it does amuse my teenage children, and like hearing loss, can be used selectively as well.

Your health is your wealth. Not much point in being a millionaire if you're too ill to enjoy life.

I always wonder about these people who are so completely obsessed with money and material possessions that they over look what's actually important in life.

I am on 200 mcg's of Thyroxine daily, 250 mgs Tetracycline and 135 mgs of Mebeverine. Apart from that I am OK! I am off to the doctors in a few minutes to have a digit inserted where digits shouldn't be inserted. Last time I asked her what a two inch finger can tell her about almost 30 feet of intestine. I never did get an answer.

Not quite related, but I was thinking just the other day there that, you know you are getting old when you start to seriously consider getting a nasal hair trimmer

I'm currently on nothing. Have been on various 'nerve pain' meds over the last year, but the side effects negated any 'pain relief' - so stopped taking them back in February. Currently taking the occasional supplement - cod liver oil, Vit D & Calcium and Vit B (good for bone & nerve health) and using a magnesium spray (again good for nerves).
When I had that examination I couldn't really work out what he was doing,I felt something being inserted and looked over my right shoulder to see what was going on and all i could see was his right hand on my right hip, i thought OK he's probably just steadying me - I then looked over my left shoulder and his left hand was holding my left hip  could never quite work out what he was doing.
My GP is a very young rather gorgeous lady GP. I could live in hope..........
