At 49 I should have a few (medical) things wrong with me. If I do, I'm blissfully unaware, as I never go to the doctor's, because I don't have time to get aches and pains investigated, because I can't be bothered, because they will go away eventually, because I'd rather drop while I feel ok ....

As long as you know enough to go when you have to. I'm a mere nipper at 30, but my old man was never one to go to the doctor... a while back he confided in my mum that he'd been passing blood when going to the loo, but it was only a tiny little bit and there was no pain so sure it would pass.
She made him go to the doctors. Turns out he had a small tumor in his bladder. It was operable, and after spending a bit longer than he was comfortable with having a tube up his urethra (and far too much longer than I was comfortable with telling me about it) he is on the good-to-go-about-your-own-business-for-a-bit list.
Some of those minor things are worth asking about.
