I think it depends on eye and hair colour and skin tone, but I don't think those are the only factors. That's why I'd suggest you go to a specialist as well if you really want to know.

but I shouldn't need to be personally analysed for this.

What about dark brown/black hair, mid to darkish skin, i.e. not that tanned but not really light white either.
i should be able to just put those values into a lookup table on the internet and it should tell me things, such as what colors i should be wearing.
It also makes me think that if people are willing to pay an analyst for this type of service, then a certain proportion of them might be willing to pay a lot less for a less personal service on the internet instead, which makes me think it could be a business opportunity to set up a website offering this service?

If you really want to know what colours suit you then ask a woman or a gay mate - they are both genetically programmed to know these things, and the advice comes free. Just don't take up their offer to go shopping with you.

A lot of my best friends are gay or women or black, but they can often end up getting a bit bitchy about this sort of thing. If one of them knew that I'd taken someones advice over the others, then there would be a bit of a frosty atmosphere.

I'd honestly just pay and see a specialist and avoid this sort of thing.

Kerching........... that's what it's about... you NEED a stylist...FFS......all baloney ! - There is MONEY in all this..and far too many folk BUY into it !

Just like those who can't fix a bike... not exactly hi tech are they, even a £5k one ! Part of the reason for the forum - take a bit of advice, pay no money out, listen, and do it yourself.....

exactly - it just struck me recently on another thread about how the term "full service" is bandied about to foster the perception that you NEED to take your bike to the bike shop to keep it mechanically sound.

Christ, it's just a treat, not an ongoing committment.

I wouldn't like to say, but I think the people who knock this sort of thing might be, dare I say, ugly-buglies?

Can I make a sensible suggestion, or perhaps just come at this as a girlie. You said you were popping down to Debenhams. Some branches have personal shoppers who, free of charge, will go round the store with you and suggest clothes they think will suit you. Presumably they will tell you what colours suit you. I've had good reports about this from a couple of friends. You could try this first before shelling out any money on a colour consultation.

Having said that, one of my friends did have a professional colour consultation years ago and highly recommended it. Her husband-to-be even did it as well before spending loads on his wedding suit.

Thanks Helen. I'm only doing it because I've got few purchases coinciding at the same time, and thought it might be bit of fun.

Do you know how much the bloke spent to get it done? I'll bet it was more than your friend. I just don't want to get stinged.

Sorry, no idea but I got the impression it wasn't cheap. If you can afford it, go for it. I'm sure it will be fun.

i thought getting your colours done meant getting a tattoo so you can be down with your homies in the hood!

then you can do a ride-by...

No probs. If I'm honest I had the money ear-marked for a mountain bike I wouldn't need anyway.

I'll get me colours done, and then watch out world - here I come!!!

I'm married, got two kids... my wife is far happier that I've got back on the bike in the last 12 months - shed 2.5 stone and am now pretty toned...no work other than riding to work and then going out at weekend for a bit of fun on the road bike.... fit into medium t-shirts rather well - gone from squeezing into 36" pants to having to hold up 34" as I can't get into 32 trousers as they won't fit my thighs...... get fit, get happy.....

Ask a female friend...don't waste the cash on a 'consultancy' - I have no need to impress, but like to look smart, so ask the better half or a female friend... don't pay for it... that odd fella on the TV will have you looking like a right numpty......

I'm a bit the same, but can't help feeling I can squeeze one last drop of coolness out of my look.

I'm not a bad person. I drink a bit too much sometimes, and get a bit silly, but I'd pretty much step up for anyone.

I think I owe that little favour to myself and the people who know me. And possibly the people who don't.

Well, if not 'attached' get a good female friend to go shopping...then expect to loose lots of cash...... or go to Primark/Matan and mix it with the good stuff.

For me I dare not get expensive clothes as I always go and tinker with the bikes/car....oops....oil all over.........

Like I said, most of my best friends are women or gay or black, and they tend to start fighting when they don't get their way. They are a bit possessive over me.

Abitrary, if you want to do it then go for it. The main thing is you will be happy at trying something you think will help you look 'the business' and so will feel good when you go out. You're paying, what others think is irrelevant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
