Ghostriding a bike

You don’t see it at all these days but occasionally you would see a ghost rider usually going to or leaving work back in the days gone by.

Yep. On the odd occasion I've seen it it didn't look too honest to me.

I remember seeing this quite a lot in the late 50's and 60's, when I was a lad.

A lot fewer had cars and to take a bike to the LBS, or to drop off at a club mate, it was the only way of doing it.

I was on a group ride, one of the riders had a fall, abandoned the ride to go home by other means.
One of the ride leaders took the bike back to base like in the OP's picture.
The ride leader, she is a very skilled rider, I don't think I could do it.

Ross Kemp is so hard, he just looks at a bike and it goes home on its own.

Much easier/safer with a coaster brake or fixed wheel.

Always found it easier to hold it in one hand, over the shoulder, than wheeling it alongside.
