Had my first proper ride today on one.

I wish i'd spent the extra in the first place, instead of getting ripped off with a Carrera Virtuoso.

What a mighty fine ride. Smooth, responsive, and very comfortable, apart from the seat.
I managed my highest average today without really trying.

Very very impressed.

To be honest you could say similar with most bikes up to around 4-5k after that it is diminishing returns. Is the Carrera Virtuoso that bad or is it just the Giant is better spec?

Are you the chap who had the Virtuoso that was way too big? A correctly sized bike makes all the difference for sure

Yes it was me with the too big bike. (Thanks Halfords )
The Carrera buzzed and vibed on most road surfaces.

I would say the Defy specs are way better and the Carrera is quite a poor bike.

Sorry did I miss understand, you have a Defy now? And got shot of the Carrera?

Not sure why but I read the first post as you had ridden someone elses Defy, and was now even more pished off with the Halfords bike.

Yes, bought a Defy and stripped the carrera for parts. Friend has bought the parts for a project.
The Sora mechs etc are pretty decent kit. Hes happy as he has all parts needed now to finish it.

I've got a DEFY 3 and i love it!! I'm still tinkering with ride position as knees are aching but other than that its a great ride!!
