Loving my old Defy 2 and I am keeping it for "best" - nice days and "event" rides rather than all-weather commuting.

I can't see a point at which I will be able to justify selling it in favour of a new disc-braked bike...yet..... but were I in the market for a new road bike this would be high up on the list in the sales next Autumn.

I always assumed the dropped sear stays are for comfort reasons.
You'll have to explain how that could possibly make a frame more comfortable.

I've got the 2015 defy0 and it's a cracking bike. As with most bikes the wheels are the let down and the PR2's flex under loading and will be swapped for some zondas in spring.

Besides the visual aspect, I don't see the issue with the dropped seat stays. Giant have obviously tested it and are happy to continue to offer a lifetime guarantee on the frame. Not sure it's a comfort thing as they have switched to the d-fuse seat post.

The wheels are the main reason I settled for a Cube instead, it came with Mavics not the best you can get but pretty bomb proof

I bought one last month as a commuter / winter trainer - it's a great bike but why do they insist on putting on crappy cheap tyres on new bikes. Swapped mine over for a pair of Contintal GP 4000s and its like riding a different bike.

Even me putting lithion 2's on for the winter has made a huge difference in comfort, probably because they blow out to 27-28. I'm on the lookout for a bargain black and green saddle as well but it'll have to be a bargain as money is spent other the young.ns this time of year
