Giant rapid help!!

Hi guys iv just signed up to this forum for some advice. I bought a giant rapid back in april from new. It has the flat bars and bar ends on them. I then decided to shorten my bars by an inch either side, then re assembled my bar ends. At times they were getting lose and i kept tightening them up a little until... The screw on the left one rounded off and now the thread inside has totally gone. I was thinking of re-threading the hole using a tap and dye kit but someone in work (working in the fabrication industry) told me that it would be difficult to re-thread ally. Iv been looking for a set on the net and i cant seem to find any anywhere. My question is, would i have to get the same ones or can i get a different set that complies with the grips that i have?

Hmm, that could be a toughie. A Giant dealer should be able to get a new grips+bar ends set easily enough, but you could also replace them with a different brand altogether. Plenty of MTB lock-on grips with integrated bar ends should work.
