The Contenders: another day for the breakaway. EF and Visma-LAB will want to pressure Isaac del Toro but today doesn’t supply the best terrain, it’s almost better to let the Mexican stew in the lead and if he can make the finish he’s got a chance. Richard Carapaz (EF) could strike out today but he might prefer to watch and wait, and besides again EF don’t seem likely to mow down the breakaway.

They had Martinelli on latest Cycling Podcast as today was his local stage. Which he now won't be able to ride

Josh Tarling update....

He was transported to a local hospital for a full assessment, where scans confirmed bone and soft tissue injuries to his lower back.

Josh remained in hospital overnight for observation and will be discharged today.

He will continue to be closely monitored by our medical team, with a structured rehabilitation plan in place to support his full recovery.

Didn't realise they were still doing the cringe inducing 'team bus' on The Breakaway. Turned on early today and caught it for the first time this year, it was worse than ever with Cummings doing it as he's not a natural on TV. Had to mute it as I was cringing too much so no idea if was actually interesting from a technical point of view.
