He's from Lancashire? Pfft, no wonder he was crying at the end.

We talked a lot about stealth Yates early on. Was this the first bit of seriously attacking riding from him in the whole race? "Oh no I'm a diesel, I can't match those guys" Yeh right.

He's learnt from 2018.

I think he genuinely thought it wasn't worth mucking around for seconds that could go either way, but got a little caught out yesterday. We joked about stealth, but we also praised that he wasn't burning matches - especially given 2018.

Barnet,
Chapeau Yates. A great ride and great tactics.
UAE and EFE played a shocker, even when Yates was up the road Del Torro and Carapaz were still looking at each other waiting for the other to make a move.
WVA deserves great credit for putting 2 minutes into the group on the valley road giving Yates the victory. :notworthy:

Loved his racing this Giro,Bernal ended up finishing in 7th place, showed for the first time since his crash that he can compete at top level for 3 weeks, despite the crashes.

Del Toro's post-stage interview is seriously worth a watch. I don't actually think he did much wrong tactically, Carapaz had less risk to gamble and should have pulled. Also, that kid really has his head screwed on right. Incredibly mature.
