So where do we think Eulalio will end up? Can he do a Ben O'Connor and hold on to the podium?

He's shown that he's no mug in the mountains and he's got 4 and a half minutes on Hindley in 4th.

Might be worth suspending judgement until after the ITT. A quick nosey at PCS past results doesn't bode well for him.

Yes its quite long for an ITT and real "one for the powerhouses / specialists" being virtually pan flat. Eulalio fought back well, pretty much off camera, yesterday at the end of the climb. I hope he hangs on for a bit longer to give a bit of interest, but unless Jonas fall off kissing his handlebars (we can but hope) its looking like a bit of a one horse race. I though Pellizzarri might offer more of a challenge than he has to date....

Jonas probably doesn't have great memories of his last pan flat GT ITT round Caen when he shipped over a minute to Pog and Remco.

Mind you, Pog and Remco won't be there tomorrow and on that day Jonas did better than anyone in this Giro who was also there (O'Connor, Arensman, Gall, Storer)

I think that the ITT will make or break this year's Giro from a spectator point of view.
If Eulalio can keep it tight then it will be game on. If he doesn't then it will be a parade to the finish, crashes aside.

Eulalio will have to step his game up considerably if he's no to get demolished in the TT

For those that couldn't be bothered looking this is the palmares of woe

I tend to think Jonas's TTing ability is a little overrated. He good if there's some climbing descending, and he's best in the third week.
Not that any of the other GC contenders is all that good against the clock

Thing is, he did one utterly brilliant (lumpy) ITT in the tour in 2023 and that has rather skewed perceptions.

Well it has mine, at least.
