A "standing start" always makes me think of wacky races.

They've been chained to a post by shifty Dick Dastardly....

I'd love it if there was a stage with a LeMans style start. You could employ Martin Brindle to walk up and down the team buses to ask if the teams were starting with flats or cleats.
