It's a good ride for a 'starter' and to get the buzz of doing something big.
However ....
- it is a bit of a victim of it's own success.
So many people doing it, with little clue of how to ride on the road, how to be aware of other people around and with little knowledge of the Highway Code
- there have been issues with the feed/water stops (lo-o-o-ng queues, not enough water, poor catering) in the past
- the final run-in, down a shared-use cycle path, is a bit scary and potentially, an accident waiting to happen
- transport to/from the start/finish has not always been smooth (buses getting lost on the way to Glasgow

, trucks and buses getting separated = long wait for bike to be unloaded)
Despite all that - it was the birth of CC Forum Rides

some years ago
It's worth doing but DON'T do it expecting to 'get a good time'.
If finishing it is the goal - do it
, enjoy it ... and get the bug for doing more interesting rides in the future.
