Hi there,

I was considering buying a go pro camera - I don't commute or race but just enjoy the run (sometimes). I must admit, I love a gadget ... :shy: Just need to know if it's worth the spend ?? It's on special offer at the moment ... Around £160 ... Opinions please ^_^

I keep on thinking about getting one, but still way to expensive for me to justify.

If you think you'll use it buy it theyre great although there are other options about now. I use mine for kayaking too and have some great shots that you just would not get with a standard camera.

I'd love one, just to record some rides (like on holiday recently when I came a cropper in some woods...it was hilarious!) but I can't justify the money right now.

The problem for me is that how many times would i use it. After a couple of rides will i really want to just keep on filming?

The veho option is a cheaper route, although the above still applies.

Snap.
But I have started taking my bike on holiday with me (we mainly go to Northern Scotland) and some of the scenery is breathtaking!!

A friend of mine who is into action cams says he is considering getting the SJ4000 as the go pro is expensive they can be had for around £60 might be worth a look.

@HB2210 Like yourself, i've been seriously thinking about buying a GoPro too. The prices have dropped because they're going to be releasing the 4th edition anytime really. They scheduled to release the new version between August and November.

Be warned about the SJ4000. Whilst they are good for the money, they are technically inferior to the GoPro 3's. Whether the advantages of the GoPro is worth the extra money is obviously the decision to be made by yourself. An example of the technical differences is that the manufactures claim that the GoPro's battery lasts for roughly twice as much as the SJ4000.

Like @Peteaud i have also wondered about whether i would play with it at first and then get bored/run out of excuses to record some footage.

One point to make is that if you'll be recording POV, the video naturally flattens out where ever your riding. So most things looks like you're just cruising flat roads/trails.

Another point to make is, who is going to watch the videos you produce? And/or how many times will it be watched? And is it worth the effort editing the videos?
