look up the herb called savoury. It can be either summer or winter savoury (one is an annual the other a perennial). When added to bean meals it helps with the wind issues considerably. In fact we have found it eliminates it entirely.
I'd never heard of that - I'll give it a go.

Wind is not so much of a problem in the summer when doors and windows are open a lot of the time but the house can become a bit 'stuffy' () in the winter when they are closed to keep the place warm.

I am a vegetarian for many many years now. I did used to eat meat but for various reasons gave it up. The funny thing is after a couple of years the smell of hamburger cooking in a pan really isn't pleasant now -smells like a cross between rotting rubbish and poop to me now. I've never told anyone this, so it came as a bit of a surprize when my daughter (who is also vegetarian) came into the kitchen one day and said it "smells awful" and wrinkled her nose up -my wife was cooking hamburger in a pan...... My other kids and wife who do eat meat, don't notice it!

That's the downside for me too, the smell of the meat aisles in markets makes me retch.

It's the same here. I have been vegetarian since the early 80's and vegan+eggs since the mid-late 00's and for various reasons have had to boil a chicken this week (really ill dog) and ended up leaving the extractor fan on in the house after it was cooked until it was stone cold just because of the smell. It is awful. I also can't stand walking past a butcher's simply because of the smell, and the same goes for the supermarket isles despite the meat being wrapped up... Fish is exactly the same as well. And don't even bring up the subject of tinned dog food! Luckily the dog I dog sit for is normally on dried dog food so I get away from that issue!

Two days done and I've enjoyed every mouthfull so far. I don't feel the need to snack either, so clearly my body is getting everything it needs.

Quinoa tomorrow, a first. Also we had to drop in to Waitrose today and buy emergency hummus.

Oh blimey ... My sister came to stay with her dog recently. She thought I was being funny with her when I kept moaning about the smell of the dog food! It was disgusting. (I'm sure that I would have found it pretty bad even when I ate meat myself because it is obviously made of pretty nasty stuff.)

She seems to be so used to the stink that she doesn't notice it, but I could smell it from upstairs.

I went out for a run this morning, my first for a good few months. It was easier than I thought it would be but we will see if I can walk tomorrow

Well being vegan hasn't stopped Adam Hansen finishing 13 grand tours in a row and Lizzie Armistead is a veggie.

Must say I've had no problems being veggie and doing a lot of cycling;there's plenty of nutrition to be found in many non-meat items(chick-peas etc)

For a good veggie cook-book look for Yotam Ottolenghis' Plenty and Plenty More and another good one is a book called Veggiestan.

I am veggie .. I haven't read everything on here, but hop you enjoyed your weak and perhaps the odd meat free days. Parmesan isn't veggie though - might have been pointed out already.

I have eaten meat at times in my life, and at it when I was powerlifting but also competed as a veggie. I don't make the switch to vegan as I like chocolate and cake ;) I did do veganuary though this January with my teen daughter who is 90% vegan still.

I love Ottolenghis TV programmes.
