Their early gigs in Scotland(Barrowlands/Playhouse) were like football matches(atmosphere wise).

I mentioned the Redskins(Kick over the Statues) - who Billy Bragg used to support on tour(1983), think he played rhythm guitar with them as well. Saw Bragg a few times live - very under-rated guitarist(cause of his rough style), and amazing lyricist. Life's a Riot...his classic debut LP.
Good shout with "the Pixies" listened to Doolittle last week........didn't the Beat once become the Fine Young Cannibals(nobodys mentioned them yet)?
