Nothing if that is what you want to do with your life but not for me. I did a bit of driving (7.5 tonne) for an agency years ago and it was mind numbing to say the least. Maybe if it involved moving special loads, but not just transporting rubber dog shoot around the country every day.

Towing a caravan after driving all day would be like doing a bus mans holiday.

Vets have one of the highest rates of suicide amongst any group of people. WTF would I want to be a vet

So what job do you do then Linf? Your a vet, arent you?

Hahaha Joe you are funny. How is the grill looking this morning?

I can vouch for that oven pride stuff, being an old person and a boring housewife it is great!

Oh and for the record, we have a touring caravan, love it! Going to put a bike rack on it next time it goes in for a service

My bikes just go inside of the van, much better. Means when its raining and horrible they dont get dirty:thumbsup::smile:
When he cooks in the ovan now he makes sure he has the fan ovan on!
Its better when he does sausages, he did them in the grill and didnt watch them, cue lots of smoke and the fire alarm going off, and next door shouting over:laugh:

Good news is that the smell probably will not go away. The greasy smoke will get onto all of the surfaces and textiles in the kitchen and smell for months! You will 'think' it has gone away because you will get used to it. Then your parents will get home and go ape shoot! ;0)

I had mates who's parents went to their caravan in Pitlochry every weekend. It was good :0)

Smell is gone. I kept the door shut on the grill, and when i eventrually opened up the door, not much smoke came out, and windows and doors were all opened:becool:
They didnt mind so much either.

No chance of my address going up online, i want less people in the house, not more;)

I've worked in McDonalds (on litter patrols), cleaned drains, worked as a removal man, & worked in petrol stations amongst other things.

I've never been afraid to get my hands dirty. It was pumping fuel for other people (filling their cars, not sat behind a till) which made me want to better my self.

Did I want to be doing that in my 50's, no I didn't.

Sorry if my honesty offends you.

My dad isnt pumping fuel, he gets in his truck, drives for abit, then parks up and sleeps, then drives some more and parks up and sleeps, parks it on the bay to be unloaded and sleeps, then drives and stops for sleeps again.
Ive seen on his tacho a few times(when he had an anologue one) he spent more time on break then what he did driving.
And hes been back at about 11 in the morning before. He leaves the house about 3/4 or maybe later, and gets back normally at about 2/3. And, most days he has at least an hours/hour and half asleep on the bunk.

Not bad i think.

Good for him. Now before I do another my dad is bigger than your dad post. Can you by any chance talk about your own life experiences than that of others ?

After a few beers last night, I gave into my disdain of this type of posting and let lack of inhibition get the better of me.

Oh, and the only reason i said about my dad driving trucks was because you said that power movers are for pussies or something or other and people should learn to reverse.
But before that, you said about getting stuck in the muddy field.

I can't take the piss out of him because he isn't here to defend himself.

anyway, its been peeing down all evening. What are the chances the folks will need to get the farmer to tow them out of the field tomorrow ?

Those motorised jockey wheels are for pussies, old farts, and for people who haven't yet mastered the skill of reversing with a trailer. Real men just put their back into it

Touring caravans - I'd rather make a pyre out of my holiday budget each year for the devaluation they suffer.

What a load of crap. Who ever heard of a caravan site which demanded that the caravanner have to unhitch their vans and manhandle them nose first onto a pitch

If I had to drive a lorry for a living at the age of 55, I'd honestly think I'd have shoot out on the career stakes.

Were you going to bang on about 4x4s being better again?

Some real ones, and not what your dad does with his Superb. If he only uses hard standing pitches, then he only needs a car which is heavy enough for the job, and wouldn't need 4wd.

They don't supply hard standing in farmers fields where I take the horse trailer, and after another 50 vehicles have come in through the same gateway anything without 4wd has to be pulled through with assistance - that includes anyone with a touring caravan and a skoda.

My lack of beer has brought my inhibitions into check now, but I can have another couple if you feel you are missing out on something.

As for being a total cock Joe, I gave you the benefit of the doubt when you were having your bitch slapping contest with a few other youngsters on here a few months ago. Now I've got to know you a bit better, you really do come over as one so it definitely wasn't just a one off.

Linf, why are you talking about 4x4s? I havent dissed them on this thread, you were the one that seemed to want to talk about them before, and now your talking about them.
What life experiences do you want me to talk about? Ive talked about some, you come on asking if the caravan will be able to get out the farmers field, so i answered about the caravan, and it not being stuck.

So Linf, lets talk about you, what job do you do? Vet?

You say they never get stuck with the caravan, then you say they are using caravan club standard sites with tarmac access roads and hard standing pitches, and then you wonder why people who use horse trailers and have to negotiate fields with none of this choose cars with 4wd over what your old man uses - different requirements totally.

Anyone who enters a muddy field in a lorry (10+ tonne) when doing these events usually gets a tow out from the local farmer.

Ignore him Joe, the guys an idiot you only have to look at the shite he has posted and the fact that no one reads his threads in P&L and half the threads in Room101 have been started by him.

Ah, here comes the 'knight of the road' to help you out Joe.

When do your parents get home Joe?

Came home today sometime. Me and my GF "watched a DVD"() then went out to a cafe, then went for a walk, and when we got back they were home.
Brother had tidyed up the house, emptied bins and got things right for when they got home:laugh:
