Glad you are okay.
Didn't happen to far from me. Bet you were in his blind spot and he was just too comfy in his soft leather uphosltery to lean forward and peer around his A-pillar.

He should also have had plenty of time to stop as he was turning his beams lit me up well before he hit me so from stationary he would have had time to stop.
Anyway, he was old with failing eye sight and slow reactions for sure. I pity the next person he encounters.

Update!!!
Ok so here is the update and also concluding this episode:
Insurance came through and paid me my travel expenses as well as pay for replacement of parts resulting in a new bob jackson vigorelli frame n forks as well as some other parts, all paid for and finished.
Got a letter from the police this morning informing me that after they studied the evidence they gave the driver the opportunity to attend a "Driver Improvement Course" as they believed poor driving judgment was shown...
I read on ... the offer was accepted by the other party as an alternative to prosecution...
He agreed to compulsory attendance of 1.5 day intensive course, £150 charge for the course, satisfactory completion of the course.
This has come as a shock to me and a complete result!!!
I think he will strugle to complete the course as his eye sight is on the blink imo!!!

One of the guys at work had to do this course when he got caught speeding iirc. He said he had to stand up, introduce himself and tell everyone why he was there...
...the guy that hit me, and the guy that hit you will both have to do this. I think even many on the course would be a little shocked that someone didnt pay enough attention and hit a cyclist (a pretty bleedin obvious one too in my case)...
I dont know what happens if they fail. I presume there is some penalty, like retaking the test or something....

The guy was very apologetic and and came across as a very caring kind of person, called me up the day after and a few days after that to check I was ok and if needed anything so I was king of feeling sorry for him. I guess they all are very apologetic when they have made a terrible mistake.
Then I think, ok the guy might be a genuinely nice guy but I think his eyesight was to blame so this is a good result, the next guy might not be as lucky as me.

To me it sounds like your driver wasnt fit for the job... mind you I think you're legally allowed to drive if blind in one eye which would be very odd considering.

i dont think you could rive if blind in one eye, your depth perception would be screwed and you would be bumpin into stuff all the time
