If they were already crossing the road then yes you give way to them but to just step into the road this is the busy ring road which cars do illegal rht sometimes, don't you have to have some responsibility as a pedestrian.Even my 4yr old knows we don't cross the road until we get the green man.

The bit i'm talking about you come out of station go up Victoria Rd the lights are where it meets the ring road cars can go left or straight ahead cyclists can turn right into the ring road its part of the LCN that leads you into george st.There is a clear sign saying no rh turn except cyclists.

I have only ever gone straight across there. Always wondered why the ASL feeder was in the centre of the road.
