For some months now my go-to GPS has been a Garmin GPSMAP 65s, using an OS 1:50K map card, or OpenFietsMap’s excellent offering.
I recently did a software/firmware update to the latest version, 4.40.
The OS mapping was still fine, but the OpenFietsMap looked awful, the colouring-in of areas having changed completely. I think it would have been unusable. Even Garmin’s own TopoActive mapping was badly coloured.
After some thought I came to the conclusion that it was the software update what done it. With quite a bit of googling I came across https://www.gpsrchive.com/, where a forum reported the same problem. This lovely site also has an archive of previous software versions, and I was able to download & install version 4.00. Useable map display is restored 🙂.
