A couple of years ago I bought a punnet of black grapes, and they had a taste I'd never experienced in grapes before, so I started buying the regularly. Since then, I've noticed that they vary considerably, some with the flavour I bought them for, and others tasting the way I'd normally associated with grapes. I usually get Sainsbury's 'Taste the Difference' ones.
You need to look for the actual variety of grape, not just that they are "black" grapes, or Sainsbury "taste the difference".

All supermarkets will have different varieties on sale at different times, which apart from the variety name may look identical, in identical packaging.
I have never thought about variety so I have just checked.
This lot are called "early sweets" and as I say, they are tasty but so small.
The last lot which were excellent were called "Thompson Crimson".
So........another question.......I buy mixed ie 50% black and 50% green. How can they both be the same variety ?
