I have been buying from Aldi. The quality has been good ie a good size and very tasty. This week the only ones they had were from Egypt** quite tasty but they are so small.
**I didnt know Egypt grew them commercially.

There are lots from India at the moment which are mostly horrible Thompson variety (sharp and tough). I eat way too many and am fussy (I'd say Aldi are actually the least good supermarket for grapes in my (considerable) experience, I can't speak to Morrisons, but it is variety specific)!

Grapes come from all over the world, mostly however where it's sunny for eating grapes (UK grow grapes for wine not chomping)!

Egypt and Chile, Brazil iirc were big sources for us (packing for Aldi, Co op, , Sainsbury etc)
Trouble is, theyre a very fragile product and I used to see some pretty poor standard stuff being packed, especially the newer varieties like Cotton Candy and the like but as you get to the end of a suppliers season, its inevitable.

A couple of years ago I bought a punnet of black grapes, and they had a taste I'd never experienced in grapes before, so I started buying the regularly. Since then, I've noticed that they vary considerably, some with the flavour I bought them for, and others tasting the way I'd normally associated with grapes. I usually get Sainsbury's 'Taste the Difference' ones.

You need to look for the actual variety of grape, not just that they are "black" grapes, or Sainsbury "taste the difference".

All supermarkets will have different varieties on sale at different times, which apart from the variety name may look identical, in identical packaging.

I have never thought about variety so I have just checked.
This lot are called "early sweets" and as I say, they are tasty but so small.
The last lot which were excellent were called "Thompson Crimson".
So........another question.......I buy mixed ie 50% black and 50% green. How can they both be the same variety ?

They won't be. Somewhere on the pack, it will probably say which variety each of them are.

Yes I was just going to mention that earlier. I'm no advertising expert but I believe they only have to put the variety somewhere on the packaging, in small print, and the "green tastiest grapes" adorning the front of the punnet is merely a marketing description. They probably fill the contents with whatever green-looking grape is cheapest at the time, and maybe just have to change the small print for the country of origin and the variety of grape
