No matter how it must look to you - pretty much no one steps out without looking.

What it is, you just don't notice that they look maybe too soon, or they just don't notice you because you're not car shaped - lack of observation. There is a difference between not looking well enough and not looking at all.

Eitherway - this idea that people simply step into the road without looking is just silly buggers.

As for the shouting, you already saw them, you went around, they were in the road legally and you still shouted at them. From the way you say it sounds like aggression (correct me if I am wrong) and that is what you shouldn't do.

So you did the right thing, then the wrong thing.

Wow - you really can't win on here it would seem sometimes.

We only have Arch's account - but presumably we agree this is what is being debated?

She slowed to "walking pace" while passing someone crossing against a red light - not illegal, just stupid. Should Arch have done a track stand?

She loudly said watch out - which seems very sensible on a busy / noisy road. No swearing. No aggression.

What should she have done? - left her bike at home and walked to work - it would seem the only option if you're planning on being so passive on a bike that slowing to walking pace around peds on a crossing where you have priority is considered unacceptable by people?

BTW I thought Cranky had flounced off a few days ago - he's obviously reappeared, with avengance, gunning for Arch again for some reason (maybe I missed something between the 2 of them  )

I'd get more sense out of talking to a piece of cardboard.

I am not debating what happened.

My point here was to do with people often suggesting that someone here/there didn't look - and my comment was pretty much that everyone looks, even if it doesn't seem like it.

Now considering the issue has been passed - shouting back is not needed, and would then be considered aggression (regardless of lack of swearing etc).

Why walk, when you can just do what OP did and avoid traffic like you should?

Are you really a doctor?!! Blimey...............

You don't seem to be able to see the wheat from the chav .................

Standards must be slipping.

No, I'm not an actual doctor.
I don't suppose you're a 170mm alloy bar with a threaded hole at one end and Shimano stamped on your rear, although it might explain a lot.

I must admit I expect peds to be careless now so I try and ride accordingly and am not really surprised anymore what they get up to...Sometimes they leave me in trepidation though.

This.

I've been caught out occasionally, but slowing down, moving away from the kerb & covering the brakes is what I do in town.

Admittedly, I'm out in the provinces, not in that London though.

In London both peds and pobs are mad, I have had women in smart business suits step out while looking me straight in the eye and equally when walking have had kamikazi pobs try to run me down on pedestrian crossings, but I think it is just the London vibe where everyone hates everyone else.

Sorry but I thought peds had priority....and yes I have a bad day with peds sometimes.

...and this...is where the fixie comes in handy as I always have my hands at least damn near to the brakes as opposed to the Audax's where my hands can be nowhere near them at times.

They are lovely...

You can't keep claiming the moral high-ground whilst resorting to the same kind of personal insults you dislike others directing at you, Crankarm.

(I suspect that you'll be accusing me of being something now.... )

Who says I can't? It's called standing up for oneself. Moral high ground ..........????

Have you done something to be accused of then?
