I was a mod in the eighties there was a big crossover with the Northern scene. From the age of about 15 we used to go to the Twisted Wheel allnighters near Piccadily Station every couple of months. Told my mum I was staying at a mates and would spend the night in town. Records exchanging hands for big sums of money, talc on the dance floor and artificial stimulants being more important than drinking booze. Thirty five years ago, but I still play the tunes. My kids know all the classics from having it played to them on compliations on long car journeys.
