Take a look at their website, they are definitely using pedal power as a way of promoting their agenda.

yes but they are not "protesting cyclists" they are offering an alternative to engines, whats wrong with that? Just because they use bikes to promote their agenda and some people might see all people on bikes as protesters/hippies then thats the problem of the narrow minded onlooker. If we all decided not to do things because of how others might perceive it we would be in a pickle.
Also if they were "protesting cyclist" so what, thats more people on bikes as far as im concerned, if that causes people to see all other cyclist as protesters and hippies then they are the fools. Its a free country and you can protest how you like imo.

as long as they fought on bikes I wouldnt have a problem with that B) ;)
although some people might think that "figting cyclists" dont give a good impression to motorist who obviously we need to impress.

What this sanctimonious bunch are doing is using a cycle to turn up to these 'events' so they can use the moral high ground when the protest at coal powered stations. What is the chance that they use a cycle entirely to get around with ?

Seeing as we don't have a home made cycle industry any more to speak of, as pointed out previously, their rides are obviously being imported from the far east.

you might have been convinced, did you probe her for more information?

Well, I didn't quite have the heart to tell her I would be getting a plane allllll the way to Vietnam and Thailand in summer B) (on the upside, I will be travelling down Vietnam on a train !!).

She was telling me about something, can't quite remember what now, but it sounded quite fun if you're some sort of green fuel hippy ;)

Yikes! we have some "interesting" views here! My reaction to the link and then on to the Climaterush website was "how exiting" these people are right and they are doing something for what they believe in. Even idealists have to live in the "real" world and have to use use whatever comes to hand to make their point. This may not "stack up" with the rest of their lives, but if we had to be consistant in everything we do we'd never achieve anything. The average age of these people is revealing, these are the people that will have to face the consequences of this generations inaction.

The damage to the climate was done years/generations ago, only now are they seeing the results of it.

The genie was already out of the box before our generation was born.

3 weeks exactly and I'll be leaving ...gone for a month (though me and my mate are wishing we're aware for longer now) B)....another week and we could of done a bit of Cambodia...another few weeks and do Loas, China...blah blah...the Visas all add up though ;) (Student Loans have come in handy )

I phoned the bank up yesterday to ask a few questions about fees and things and the guy had done vietnam/thailand before and was giving me a few tips and places to see - not what I expected  (definitely not your usual scripted response).

You may be right, I am confused by those that oppose the green movement, it's either "too late" or "you're worrying about nothing", either way vested interest in the status quo wins...

Your first statement quantifies the 'it's too late' standpoint. I favour a concerted effort to reduce population growth if a serious attempt to change things, but this would require a fairly serious change of attitude.

As long as the world population continues to increase by 80 million each year, sit-ins on ROWs to block the traffic in a 1st world capital city is just gesture politics.

It has no better value than just talking about it - nothing tangible will come from it.
